We’re back with another weekly news roundup. Here are some of the, very superhero based, stories that caught my eye over the past week.

New frontrunner for Cable emerges – The huge speculation surrounding who will play Cable in the upcoming sequel to Deadpool may be at an end as Michael Shannon has now emerged as the new favourite for the role. Names such as Pierce Brosnan, Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, and David Harbour have previously been floated as candidates for the role, but now it seems like Shannon will beat them all out. Another new name in the mix according to some reports is Brad Pitt. We are still waiting for confirmation as to who will be playing Deadpool’s ally from the future, but whoever gets cast will join Ryan Reynolds, Zazie Beetz, and director David Leitch in the much anticipated sequel.

New Justice League trailer – The first official trailer for this year’s Justice League, the sequel to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, has debuted. The only previous trailer has come from San Diego Comic Con in July 2016. The film will star Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher as the Justice League members Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg. The trailer also offers a first look at J. K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Amber Heard as Queen Mera, as well as a brief appearance of Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Justice League is scheduled for release in November 2017.

Joe Manganiello unsure he’s still Deathstroke – After huge uncertainty surrounding who would be directing The Batman after Ben Affleck dropped out there is now even more uncertainty about one of the film’s stars. Joe Manganiello was cast as the mercenary Deathstroke, but is no longer sure whether he will remain in the role. When asked in an interview with Pittsburgh Today Live about the role and whether he was still playing Deathstroke Manganiello could only answer with “Umm, maybe. We’ll see”. This is indicative of the uncertainty surrounding the film, and just adds more doubt into the minds of fans.
