It is time for this week’s movie news roundup, where I pick some of the stories that caught my eye over the last seven days.

Edge of Tomorrow 2 title revealed – After the near comedic fiasco behind the naming of Edge of Tomorrow, with the names All You Need Is Kill and Live, Die, Repeat. Now we have the return of a very familiar title for the sequel. Director Doug Liman told Collider that the new sequel would be called Live Die Repeat and Repeat. Liman also mentioned that Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt would be returning, as Major Cage and Sergeant Rita Vrataski, the principle characters in the first film.

First Blade Runner 2049 trailer – It’s been a long time coming, but the first trailer for the sequel to Ridley Scott’s seminal Science-Fiction classic Blade Runner has finally debuted. The trailer was broadcast on the film’s official Facebook page following a short panel, hosted by Scott Mantz, featuring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, and director Denis Villeneuve. The trailer mainly focused on Gosling’s new character Officer K, but does also briefly feature Harrison Ford’s return as Rick Deckard. The trailer is available on Warner Bros. YouTube channel. Blade Runner 2049 will be in cinemas on 6th October 2017.

Hellboy reboot in the works – It was reported a few weeks back that Guillermo Del Toro’s third part of his Hellboy trilogy was officially dead. This no doubt had something to do with the large budget that he was hoping to secure for the film, despite the modest takings by the first two. Now Mike Mignola’s creation will be returning to the big screen in a different form. Mignola announced the film on his personal Facebook page, and also confirmed that Neil Marshall (Game of Thrones, The Descent) would direct the film, and that Stranger Things star David Harbour would be taking on the titular character. On top of that Mignola said that this version would be an R-Rated interpretation, bringing it closer to the original comic book iteration of the character.

Game of Thrones and Split stars join X-Men Universe – Its has been rumored for over a year that Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy would be appearing in a future adaptation of the New Mutants, a story set in the X-Men universe, and now it has been confirmed. Taylor-Joy will be starring as one of the team; Magik (the younger sister of Colossus) and Williams will be playing her teammate Wolfsbane. The New Mutants will feature a younger group of teenage Mutants, and could be an attempt to bring in a younger audience to the X-Men franchise. Whilst this New Mutants film is still currently untitled, it is scheduled for released on the 13th April 2018.

That is it for this movie news roundup. I would love to hear your thoughts on any of the stories from this week, and if there are any I’ve missed. Let me know in the comments.
