I am back with another roundup of the film news stories that caught my eye over the last week.

Disney chasing Jared Leto for new Tron film – After the critical failure of 2010’s Tron Legacy Disney is now looking to reboot the classic 1982 Sci-Fi film Tron, and are eyeing Suicide Squad and Dallad Buyers Club star Jared Leto. It is still unclear whether this would be a third Tron film, or a complete reboot of the franchise, but Disney clearly believe that it still has commercial appeal after launching a Tron ride at the new Shanghai Disney Resort.

Michael K. Williams joins Young Han Solo spin off – The hugely talented cast of the future Han Solo film has added Michael K. Williams amongst its numbers. Williams, best known for playing Omar on The Wire as well as appearing in 12 Years A Slave and The Night Of, confirmed he would be appearing on Entertainment Weekly: The Show. He joins Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, and Woody Harrelson in the Lord and Miller directed spin off. There still isn’t much work on who most of the these actors will be playing, or what the story will be, but Disney keep adding critically lauded actors, which is sure to help put many fans at ease.

Domino cast in Deadpool 2 – The sequel to Deadpool has found the actor to play one of its new key supporting players. Supporting comic book character Domino will be played by Atlanta star Zazie Beetz, as Ryan Reynolds announced her casting on Twitter. Domino is a mutant mercenary with subconscious probability manipulation abilities. She has a history with both Deadpool, and importantly Cable, in the comic books. Sadly there is still no word on who will play Cable, after he was announced in the Deadpool post credit scene.

Margot Robbie leads Robin Hood Marian spin off – According to Deadline Sony have reportedly added Suicide Squad and Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie to play the legendary Maid Marian in a new version of the Robin Hood myth that will focus on Marian. It will take place after Robin has died and will see Robbie’s Marian taking up his mantel as the leader of resistance in England. Are you interested in a female led version of the Robin Hood/Maid Marian story? And do you like the casting of Robbie in the main role?
